You are everywhere except right here and it hurts.

It hurts like hell when someone makes you feel special then suddenly leave you hanging, and you have to act like your don’t care at all.

I think it’s depend upon which feels worse to you :

When one experiences pain and loss there is a little voice in your head that urges you to shut yourself off under the pretence of protection. In these moments it’s easy to wallow in the pain or go numb. Feel all of it, and lose yourself in the grief, or feel nothing none of it, and lose yourself entirely. Yet this poem acknowledges that while your heart is ‘shatter[ed]’,

and in that time it may feel like everything else has fallen apart, it ‘still lives’. It teaches you not to doubt the strength of your own heart, and thus your own strength; even when you cannot quite see how you learn that you can carry on.

Finally, the first poem I read of Kaur’s, the poem I think all parents should read to their children; sons and daughters alike. This poem embodies a perspective I wish more people had, and I wish society and the media could promote or at least empathise with.

Both are equally bad but there are 3 perspectives to it

1. If you break up with someone who you truly loved and your beloved had the same feeling then you would feel guilty and incomplete for the rest of your life, more so if your future relationships don’t reach your standard expectations

2. If your beloved broke up with you for whatever reason, then you would be feeling the pain however this pain would subside with time. You won’t carry the burden or guilt of breaking the relationship provided you both truly loved each other.

3. Every break up has a reason behind it. If the relationship was broken in haste by either partner, then they would feel the perspective given in point 1 and 2. But if the reasons of parting ways were stronger than staying together then the pain would be temporary and both partners will move on in their respective lives.

The one who invested so much emotionally and truly loved someone would find it really difficult to move on, it is difficult for the other person who initiated it too, but they saw it coming and they will try to move on faster. But the one who still holds on to it and treasures the other one will find it extremely difficult.
